Split Pea Soup (Oi! Not a Brit, get over it!)

Like I said, I'm not a Brit, so you will have to forgive the fact that as an American I have no sense of honor when it comes to improving upon a great idea. Green peas are a weird food, it is a dried out pea that tastes funny when you cook them into something tasty. The trick is that the green peas need some love to make them tasty and if anything I'm more than willing to commit heresy to make a delicious meal (or three knowing me).

The one thing I learned about a good soup is that the longer that you cook it, the tastier it should become, hence the small slow cooker is my best friend for this meal.

Damn Yank Split Pea Soup

Tools:
Small crock pot
Knife
Cutting Board

Ingredients:
1 cup of dried green peas
1 large carrot chopped
1 large potato chopped
1 large onion chopped
3 cups of water (or more water if it doesn't cover everything)
1 lb of chopped pork (because piggie makes EVERYTHING taste better)
1 tbsp garlic powder (or half a head of real garlic)
2 tbsp cumin (or more to taste, I like cumin in this recipe so I use 4 tbsp)
1 tbsp celery seeds
pepper to taste
1 tbsp salt
2 tbsp butter (butter makes EVERYTHING better too!)

Ok, you see everything? Put it in the crock pot, turn on low.

I know, I'm a genius. An evil genius who believes in simplicity. I eat this usually 12-16 hours later with a good crusty bread toasted with some butter. Speaking of which...DINNER TIME!
