Some days you just aren't going to eat at home

Well today turned crap-tastic, quite literally, which means breakfast and lunch disappeared into the limbo of 'not going to happen'. Sigh. More than disappointing, although my friendly coffee shop staff are putting a smile to my face right now with smiles, waves, and funny faces. One of 'those' days.

This of course means that I ate out today, which meant that I sucked it up and ate fast-food crap that I didn't want to eat, but sometimes you just need the calories rather than enjoying the meal you've been given. But I did get a small bit of cooking in today for a sick friend of mine who I had to stop in and make lunch for since he was too ill to make it himself. Digging into his pantry, I am amazed at the lack of staples that some people can have in a kitchen, but I resolved myself to make something good.

Thrown together soup

Tools:
Pot
Knife

Ingredients:
1 can of beef broth soup
1 can of water
1 large carrot, chopped up
1 handful of noodles (I had ziti for this dish)
1 pinch of thyme
2 fat pinches of parsley
1 pinch of rosemary
dash of pepper

Throw it all into the pot on medium-high heat and cook it until the noodles are done.

Simple, fast, and semi-nutritious for an old fart tired of poultry after a week of turkey leftovers. I made this as he cleaned himself up in the shower so he'd have a warm meal for lunch. I served it with some buttered bread so he could just soak up the broth.

I hope I get to eat a real meal myself at home tonight, but only time will tell. Until then . . .

Bien Camino.
