Food!

Ok, rule one: we do not talk about Fight Club. Rule two: good thing thing this isn't Fight Club.

Food is a wonderful thing, something that every single person on this spinning globe we call home finds important. I've travelled more than a little bit of the world in my short life and hold a special place in my heart for the idea that food brings us all together, no matter our imagined differences.

My love of good food began in college when I first had to learn to cook for myself (alright, I learned in Scouts as well, but for some reason the dorm frowned on me starting a campfire in the middle of my room). I still have nightmares about how bad those first few years were, but no matter how horrible the food way, I made myself eat it as a reminder to not do it again.

I learned that cooking for myself wasn't nearly as scary as the world would like you to believe. The bigger shock was how bad the shite that gets served to us on a daily basis really is once you learn to combine some very simple ingredients in a pot.

So the rules of this blog are simple (Unlike Fight Club which is silly):
1) Eat whatever you cook, even if you screwed it up. This will teach you to not screw up.
2) You don't have to be rich to eat well, after basics I spend about $2 USD on each meal, usually much less.
3) Simple. You won't need any 'funny' or 'specialized' cooking gear to do any of this. My kitchen could get on well with a simple cutting board, 2-3 sharp knives, 2 medium size pots with lids, a frying pan or wok, and some misc spoons/spatulas/turners/tongs. I get all of these usually in plastic except for the tongs so I don't scratch any nonstick off of the pans I might get my evil hands on. Investing in a crockpot/slowcooker is relatively inexpensive and allows you to cook things without having to hide in your kitchen the entire time.
4) I'm a smart-ass, get over it.
5) Try everything once, no matter how 'weird' it sounds or looks. Then if you still don't like it that is fine, but you'd be surprised that you might like far more than you realize.

Well that about sums it up, lets get to the first recipe.
